FLA partnership with Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Australia (the Duke of Ed)

Future Leaders Academy (FLA) is proud to announce we are now officially a Duke of Ed Employer with The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Australia. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to recognising and supporting young people who have demonstrated leadership, resilience, and initiative through the Duke of Ed Framework.

What This Partnership Means
As a Duke of Ed Employer, FLA acknowledges the skills and qualities developed by young people who use the Duke of Ed Framework to develop valuable life skills. We recognise that those who complete a Duke of Ed Bronze, Silver or Gold Level gain valuable competencies in communication, teamwork, responsibility, community-mindedness, resilience, and leadership—all of which are highly sought after in the workplace.
Through this partnership, FLA has committed to recognising and endorsing the Duke of Ed in Australia during recruitment processes and promoting the initiative to business networks and industry partners.
Opportunities for FLA Students - Gold Level Residential Project
In addition to our Duke of Ed Employer Partner role, FLA offers students who attend our leadership programs the opportunity to complete their Gold Level Residential Project with us. This means that students working towards their Gold Duke of Ed Level can fulfill this requirement while gaining hands-on leadership experience through FLA’s Student Leaders Program (SLP).
By completing their Residential Project with us, students will:
Develop leadership and teamwork skills in an immersive, real-world environment.
Engage in cultural and adventure-based learning, aligning with the Duke of Ed's criteria.
Work alongside like-minded peers, strengthening their networks and future opportunities.
Gain recognition for their achievements in a structured and highly regarded leadership program.
Opportunities for FLA Students - Career Pathways
We have two ways our student alumni can stay part of our program and enhance their career opportunities.
Return as an Alumni Assistant on future courses.
Progress to become a Syndicate Coach helping deliver our program across the Pacific.
Our alumni are offered the chance to apply for the above roles, which can lead to paid work with FLA, further develop their leadership skills, and give them some excellent experience to include in their CV's.
Why This Matters
This partnership bridges leadership development and career readiness, ensuring young people are not only equipped with the skills they need to excel but are also recognised by employers for their commitment and achievements. We believe a well-rounded young leader needs to have outside the classroom experiences to develop their confidence and future prospects.
We look forward to working with The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Australia to support young leaders, provide career pathways, and encourage more organisations to recognise the incredible value of the Duke of Ed Framework.
